How to start your own blog: the posts

The posts are the most important thing about a blog. Nobody will follow your blog when you write shitty posts, no matter how beautiful your blog looks. Continue reading to see my tips and tricks on how to make a good blogpost.

WHICH LANGUAGE?
If you're are a native English speaker, there isn't much choice. I'm from the Netherlands, so I'm just going to talk about the choice between Dutch and English.
The perks of writing in English that you can reach a lot more people with it. It's also easier to collaborate with brands.
With a Dutch blog, on the other hand, you can reach a more specific group. You can recommend yourself on a lot of Dutch sites and of course it's easier to collaborate with Dutch brands. I think you can make your blog as big as you want with both languages so the choice is all yours.

WHAT DOES A GOOD POST LOOK LIKE?
There's an easy lay-out for your blog post. First start with a little introduction, you can tell where you're going to write about, talk about a problem and a lot of other things as long as it makes the reader interested in your post. I usually put a picture underneath it.
One of the main things of the lay-out of a good post is that you always have to work with pagebreaks! Click on the torn paper icon while writing a post and after that line there will be a "continue reading" button visible. When you're a fashion blogger who only posts outfits with a small text to say where your items are from, this step isn't necessary. But never posts long blogposts without pagebreak. It will ruin your whole blog lay-out because one of the main keys of having a nice looking blog is simplicity.
Put some pictures amongst your text to make it easier to read and finish of with a question. I usually do it in italics so it's easy to see that it's the end of the post. Finish with a great or little image and try to end with the same great every time.

HOW DO I WRITE GREAT POSTS?
Practice, practice, practice! Almost every blogger started with shitty posts. My friend likes to read my old posts so she can laugh at how bad they are. Read a lot of other blogs and see how they write. Practicing is the key.

What do you want to know about blogging?
